Tess Varley teaches private violin lessons in Delaware County to students ages 4+ using a blend of the Suzuki method and traditional teaching styles. She is also on the teaching faculty at Merion Mercy Academy. Students of any age and musical background are encouraged to try out private lessons, even adult beginners. She is currently accepting new violin students.
Beyond private instruction, Tess has extensive experience in the classroom leading group violin classes, youth orchestra rehearsals and string sectionals, as well as coaching chamber ensembles. As an alumni of Symphony in C, Tess is a guest coach for the Symphony in C Youth Orchestra. From 2017-2018, Tess taught in the Philadelphia School District through Settlement Music School's Music Education Pathways program. Before moving to Philadelphia, Tess was on faculty at The Urban School of San Francisco as the director of the chamber orchestra and chamber music program. Previously, she led elementary and middle school string classes within the San Francisco Unified School District. Tess served on the string faculty at the Lutheran Summer Music Program from 2014-2016. |
